Check Physical Connections

Isolate the system from external failures before assuming a hardware fault.

  • Test your connections: Swap out display cables, adapters, or monitors to rule out peripheral failure.
  • Verify your power supply: Try a different power adapter and confirm it matches your system's input voltage specifications.
  • Disconnect all peripherals: Unplug all USB devices and expansion cards, then power on again to identify whether an external device is causing the issue.

Clear the CMOS

A CMOS clear acts as a hardware reset, clearing corrupted BIOS data that may prevent the system from powering on, displaying video, or booting correctly. It can also resolve issues with unrecognized devices and incorrect BIOS settings.

On our systems, you can clear the CMOS by pressing and holding the dedicated CMOS reset button on the unit for 5 seconds — no need to open the chassis. Doing so will not void your warranty. You can find model-specific instructions in our Download Center.

Reinstall the operating system

If your system is crashing, failing to load the OS, or freezing at the welcome screen, returning the software to its factory state can resolve file corruption caused by improper shutdowns or driver conflicts.

Reinstalling the OS will erase existing data on the system drive. Please back up any important files before proceeding. Refer to our support page for model-specific reinstallation instructions.
